An Interview with Pepperjack Interiors

What is your favorite furniture brand to work with?

For upholstery pieces I love working with Lexington Furniture as I find their products to be very comfortable and the quality is excellent; for more budget conscious projects I turn to Bernhardt and Lee Industries.   Palecek is an all-around favorite because the styling is fashion forward without being too trendy, the quality always exceeds my expectations and the selection broad:  I can source lighting, wall décor, seating and casegoods all in one place.

What kinds of colors & fabrics will you be using in 2017?

Green has made quite a comeback in 2017 after being named the Pantone Color of the Year.  I love the fresh combination of green, black, and white or cream and am seeing this combination in recent projects, even model homes.  I’ve been using this combination all spring and plan to build on this combination in the fall and winter by adding purples and orange to the mix.  The combination is very whimsical and eclectic which I love.

What kinds of projects are you most excited to work on?

I recently completed a remodeling a 1930s bungalow style home located in the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento.  I immediately hit it off with my client, which is a huge component of a successful project and a long-term client relationship.  The client loves color, is very expressive, and was not afraid to explore.  I was able to pull in an eclectic mix of styles – African, Arts & Crafts, Native American, Asian – and colors including pinks, reds and oranges.  It is probably my favorite project yet.

from your experience, what should consumers know about the furniture buying process?

Clients should trust that their designer is familiar with the products that they are recommending for a project.  We go to market twice a year, see the products, sit in chairs and sofas, feel the quality and understand manufacturer’s reliability.  Clients should feel confident that our recommendations represent not only the styling, but the full vetting of value and trustworthiness of furnishing pieces we recommend they invest in.

How has Habitatery made it easier for you to work as a design professional?

I stumbled across habitatery nearly 8 years ago and working with the team has had a huge effect on my ability to provide great design to my clients.  I’m a small design studio and look to habitatery as an extension of my staff, providing pricing, expediting orders, even issue resolution.  Importantly, working with habitatery gives me trade pricing access to product lines that I could never have accessed on my own because minimum opening orders were too high.
